A home run might win the World Series (on occasion) and a “Hail Mary” pass might win the Super Bowl (on occasion), but to “win” a livable planet will take hard work by all of us—tackling not just the sexiest opportunities but the everyday, bread-and-butter, staring-us-in-the-face changes that are needed in order to bring about a more sustainable built environment.

Why do I want to speak to green building audiences in 2016 and 2017?

Because right now, we’ve only certified the top 1% of buildings, and that’s after 15 years of trying.

Whether you are an architect, developer, or consultant, we need to reach more people and give them a better understanding of what works in green building and sustainability. That’s the only way we can get the green building industry out of the unsustainable state it’s in.

The events and conferences where I speak are a way we take a short pause to gather new ideas, insights and information which we can take back to improve our work.

I love sharing what I’ve learned about what makes sustainable design and green building a sound business proposition, as well as a worthwhile undertaking; and how we can change things so that LEED and everything green building is actually working the way we need it to work.
